What is Travel Allowance?
A travel allowance is money paid by your employer to cover expenses incurred when traveling for work. It can be used for business travel, commuting or if moving between alternate places of work, such as a second office or location.
If you are eligible this could result in you potentially being owed a rebate on your allowance that your employer has not reimbursed you for.
Applying for Travel Allowance is quick and easy and you can backdate claims over the previous 4 tax years which could result in a refunds of up to £4800.

Frequently asked questions
How much can I claim?
The average refund per tax year is £252 and we can backdate claims to 6 April 2021. If you were eligible for all previous 4 tax years your claim could be worth £4,006.
What if I earn more than £50,270?
You could still be eligible if you earn more than £50,270, for example if you incur additional expenses related to your work that are not fully, or partly reimbursed.
Will I be fined if I apply in error?
Although it’s unlikely your application would be accepted if you weren’t eligible, you still won’t be fined. If you were accepted, any underpaid tax would be collected through a PAYE code adjustment meaning you will pay more tax on your earnings until the underpaid tax is recovered. However we recommend you check your eligibility before claiming, and contact us before submitting a claim if you’re not sure whether you qualify.
When do I receive my refund?
Once we have received your completed forms, we submit your claim to HMRC within 48 hours. It typically takes HMRC between 3 and 10 weeks to process your claim, however this timescale can vary depending on HMRC’s workload.
How will I get paid?
All rebates are paid to you directly by HMRC into your nominated bank account. We invoice you for our fee once you have received payment.
How much do you charge?
Our fee is a flat rate of £199 plus vat per year claimed for.
Are you affiliated with HMRC?
No. We are registered as tax agents meaning we can assist UK taxpayers to claim back tax refunds. However HMRC does not endorse tax agents and we are not affiliated in any way. You can also make a claim directly with HMRC without using a tax agent.
